On-Page SEO Checklist for Business Websites That Want Leads

A practical on-page SEO checklist: titles, meta descriptions, headings, internal links, and schema that help pages rank and convert.

On-page SEO is everything you control on your own pages. Get this right before you buy links or run aggressive outreach.

The checklist we run on every important URL

  • One primary search intent per page
  • Unique title tag that matches intent (roughly under 60 characters)
  • Meta description that earns the click (roughly 150–160 characters)
  • A single clear H1
  • Logical H2/H3 structure that mirrors how people scan
  • Internal links to services, proof, and related articles
  • Descriptive image alt text
  • FAQ or how-to schema where it helps
  • Fast mobile experience
  • Correct canonical URL
  • Content that ranks and converts

Write for the buyer's job-to-be-done. Explain the problem, show proof, reduce risk, and give a next step (call, form, demo). Search engines reward pages that satisfy the query; humans reward pages that make the next decision easy.

    Keyword placement without stuffing

Use the primary phrase in the title, H1, early paragraph, and one subheading when natural. Repeat ideas with synonyms. Forced repetition looks spammy and usually underperforms.

    Internal linking strategy

Every money page should be reachable in a few clicks from the homepage. Blog posts should point to the services they support. Orphan pages rarely rank.

    Measurement

Track impressions, clicks, average position, and assisted conversions. Ranking #3 for a buying keyword is worth more than ranking #1 for a curiosity query.
